It’s not everyday you get to lay eyes on a seemingly never ending array of original famous works of art. My eyes beheld so many today my brain is swimming in beauty. Hours later I still have an involuntary grin! As we admired works by Leonardo Da Vinci, Fra Angelico, Edgar Degas, John Singer Sargent, Mary Cassatt, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Giotto, Winslow Homer, and James McNeill Whislter (to name a very few) it was like bumping into an old friend. There were big smiles and little squeals every time we found a painting that we’ve covered in our homeschool picture study lessons.
As if that wasn’t enough for one day, we also touched a piece of this, my friends.
Yes, at the Air and Space Museum our fingers actually touched a moon rock. Driving home this evening and looking up at the remnants of this week’s super moon I was overcome. How much “amazing” can one heart handle in a single day? I think I’ve passed my limit.
I’m so happy for you and so jealous at the same time!! My kids would have LOVED to see Fra Angelico’s work in person! They still open up the photo book that I bought them two years ago for our art study. What a wonderful experience!
