The other day I learned that the Hebrew word for “inspiration” comes from the verb “to soak or to bathe.” This fun fact has stayed in the forefront of my mind. In fact, I can’t stop thinking about it. Too often I assume that “inspiration” strikes on a whim, forgetting that it’s very much related to what we “soak” ourselves in. I love how other languages can give us new perspectives on how we think about life.
...his delight is in the Lord’s instruction, and he meditates on it day and night. He is like a tree planted beside flowing streams that bears its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers. Psalm 1:2-3 (CSB)
So, what are you soaking in these days for inspiration? Or maybe it’s been awhile since you got your feet wet?
